The Battle to Believe (Matthew 9:18-25)

Have you ever been torn between the reality of what is happening to you and the truth about what God can do for you? Jairus was in this place. He had a dead daughter at home. Yet he had faith alive in his heart. Sometimes, what you have in your heart is more important than what you have in your hands.

The battle to believe would have been hard for Jairus: his emotions would have tried to drag him back to his situation, but his faith pushed him to Christ. There will always be a conflict between your emotions and faith; between your current situation and the finished work of Christ.

But like Jairus, when God sees you deciding to stay in faith, He will SWIFTLY come to your aid. The only reason God kept Jairus on the scene while the woman with the issue of blood was healed was only to help Jairus’ own faith.

Sometimes, like Jairus, the miracle you need may seem impossible to believe for. But God is so understanding and gracious that He will do a miracle for someone else right in front of you, just to show you that He can do it for you too! So don’t stop believing!
