Idols and Giants
All of us know how David stood up against Goliath and knocked him down. But before he could do that, God raised up the lion and the bear to knock everything that he was relying on.
That’s why when David went out to Goliath, he says, “You come to me with a sword and spear…but I come to you in the Name of the Lord of Hosts.” In other words, David was saying that there was nothing he considered greater than God. He was depending on God alone. And that’s why he knew that he was going to be victorious even though he went only with a sling and a stone.
Remember this : most of the time, before you can rise up to knock your giants down, your giants will rise up to knock your idols down.
